It is a gentle therapy suitable for patients of all ages and recognised as an effective treatment for a wide range of disorders, helping to relieve pain by restoring the function of the joints, muscles and ligaments.

Acupuncture

Traditional Chinese Acupuncture uses the principle of maintaining the body's physiological balance through energy channels known as meridians. Diagnosis is made through observation of the tongue and pulses, and through gentle abdominal examination.

Western Acupuncture is based on a modern understanding of anatomy and physiology, although many of the areas used are very similar to traditional acupuncture points.

Both forms of acupuncture can be used to treat a wide range of conditions and can be used very effectively in conjunction with osteopathy to ease pain and reduce muscle tightness.

Treatment usually (but not always!) involves the insertion of very fine needles at specific points on the body. Patients are often surprised that they are barely able to feel the needles.

Massage

Massage can be a very useful adjunct to osteopathy and acupuncture, as well as a therapy in its own right. By releasing tension in the muscles, overall strain is reduced. It is relaxing and refreshing - a very good means of rejuvenating the body after the pressure of everyday living.
