Diagnosis and treatment
Osteopathy
Osteopathy is not just about backs! Headaches, period pain and asthma are among the many conditions which can be treated through osteopathy. A more extensive list can be found below.
It is a gentle therapy suitable for patients of all ages and recognised as an effective treatment for a wide range of disorders, helping to relieve pain by restoring the function of the joints, muscles and ligaments.
What can I expect?
Osteopathic treatment generally consists of gentle manipulation and stretching of the muscles, ligaments and joints. Treatment is not painful and rarely uncomfortable.
Osteopathy is regulated under The Osteopaths Act 1993 and governed by The General Osteopathic Council. All osteopaths are highly qualified medical practitioners.

Acupuncture
What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture most probably originates in Traditional Chinese Medicine, dating back thousands of years. In its traditional form, it seeks to restore the body's physiological balance by addressing the flow of energy through certain meridians. It can also be used to address muscle and joint pain through the needling of sensitive areas known as "Trigger Points".
Will it hurt?
No, not really! Acupuncture needles are very thin, so the sensation is nothing like that you may have experienced when having a vaccination at your doctor's.
There may be a slight sting as the needle pierces the skin, but often there is no sensation at all. Once the needle is in place, you may feel a heavy or warm sensation, but usually treatment is very relaxing.
